Ellie Fowks (b. 2000) is an artist from De Soto, Kansas. Inspired by an upbringing deeply rooted in the natural world, her art explores the interconnectedness of living systems and the importance of biodiversity in a web of codependent relationships. She merges forms of trees, bodies, creatures, and ecosystems to investigate interdependence and evoke enigmatic interpretations of nature. Imagery regarding death and regeneration echo the fragility of the environment, emphasizing that the disruption of a single organism can deeply affect the whole. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from Northern Arizona University and an A.F.A. from Johnson County Community College. She will be attending The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Fall 2026 to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Fiber Arts.
Her work has been featured at Kansas City Artist Coalition, 3West Gallery, and Holsum Gallery Extension. She won multiple art awards during her time at Johnson County Community College, including Mind’s Eye Art Award, First Place at the 2026 League for Innovation competition, and was awarded multiple Fine Art Scholarships. She was also nominated by her professors for the 2026 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award through the International Sculpture Center. She currently resides in Chicago, Illinois.
